Why Caribbean Spanish feels so fastPor qué el español caribeño se siente tan rápido
- Dropped or softened s: “¿Cómo estás?” becomes “¿Cómo ehtá?”
- R and L swap in Puerto Rico: “Puerto Rico” can sound like “Puelto Rico.”
- Shortened words: “para” → “pa”, “está” → “tá”.
- Fast rhythm and lots of local slang.
The grammar is the same as everywhere else. What you need is ear training: hearing real speech until your brain fills in the missing sounds automatically.
